SC FREIBURG - SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY WITH THE SUPPORT OF JOBRAD

REALISATION

SC Freiburg has been committed to exercise, solidarity and the environment for many years. The club has been recording its carbon footprint since the 2022/23 season. Mobility accounts for 67% of SC Freiburg's total emissions, whereby a distinction is made between fan mobility and club mobility. Various mobility measures support fans and employees in travelling to the event sustainably.

The “entry ticket = travel ticket” rule has applied since 1993, which allows fans to use public transport free of charge before and after the match.

As the current main sponsor, jersey sponsor and mobility partner of SC Freiburg, JobRad supports various campaigns in the action area of sustainable mobility.

For every fan who rides their bike to the game, JobRad donates one euro to a charitable organisation as part of the ongoing "Bike Fan Tally" campaign. On average, 5.000 cyclists come to the game every match day.

BACKGROUND

Sporting events generate climate-relevant greenhouse gas emissions in various contexts. Climate-friendly mobility can make a key contribution to climate protection and save CO2.

CHALLENGES

Fan mobility depends on many factors, e.g. weather, habits, costs, distance or availability. As a association, we only have limited influence on many factors.
