ACCESSIBILITY
WHAT IS BEHIND THE ACTION AREA ACCESSIBILITY?
Striving for the greatest possible accessibility: Accessibility is a fundamental prerequisite for the self-determined and equal participation (see action area Diversity and participation) of all people in sporting events. This does not only mean people with disabilities, but also older people, families or people without/with little knowledge of German, etc.
This involves creating spatial, digital, communicative and social accessibility. For the organiser, it is important to identify and overcome existing obstacles and barriers to following the sporting event. Specifically, the aim must be to ensure accessibility to the venues (e.g. ramps for wheelchairs) and to the sporting event as well as to information about the sporting event (e.g. website in plain language).

FURTHER TARGETS
Action areas serve to divide up the complex topic of sustainability for operationalisation. However, there are many overlaps between the fields of action. For example, although the following objectives belong to the topic of accessibility, they are dealt with in detail in other action areas.
- Where possible, sports facilities and infrastructure are selected according to their accessibility. → Click here to discover the Sports Venues and Infrastructure action area
- Accessibility during the preparation phase is particularly important for employees and volunteers. → Click here to discover the Diversity and Participation action area
LINKED SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
The Accessibility action area addresses the following sustainable development goals from the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
